Have you ever thought about how various are the wedding traditions all around the world? Furthermore, different countries have their own beliefs as to what is lucky or is unlucky. As far as the wedding day and the marriage at all are always extremely important events, some people just go for weird customs and traditions in order to bring more happiness to their lives. So, what these mad people are ready for only to be the happiest ones?

1. Banging on the first wedding night in France.

This is really not that kind of `banging` newborn family expects on their first official night together. This `banging` means that their relatives and friends gather outside the house of the newly weds and start banging on pots and pans. However, just-married couple can`t sleep even after their mates stop banging. The couple has to serve them drinks and snacks during all the night. This weird age-old French tradition is known as Charivari.

2. Beating the groom with dead fish in Korea.

Some South Koreans believe that in order to make the groom ready for the first night of the marriage, his feet need to be beaten by dead and cold fish, and than by bamboo sticks. However, it is hard to say, what they exactly want to make the groom ready for. Maybe, they are sure about that the bride will beat him all night, so they consider it to be their duty to challenge their friend. But everybody knows exactly, what the newly weds will actually do in their first wedding night 😉

3. The Blackening ritual of Scotland.

Don`t worry, bride, if you are pretty enough or not. Because your guests in any case will just cover you in goo. This funny wedding  tradition involves family & friends showering the couple with all sorts of disgusting things and then tying the newly weds to a tree. But the most interesting thing of this tradition is that this ritual means NOTHING! It doesn`t bring the happiness to couple or something like that. The only explanation why it is done that the bride & groom can prove that they are ready for anything.

 4. Practicing crying for a month before the wedding in China.

`If you won`t cry on your wedding day, it means you don`t actually love the partner and your feelings are also faked!` In fact, Chinese groom can even leave the wedding if he won`t see bride`s tears. So, in oder to prove the true love from the side of the bride, the brides have to cry everyday for an hour for a month before their wedding. Other female relatives join in as well, but if somebody of them won`t cry, there will be no so much problems in comparison with bride`s situation. Crying tradition for the Tujia people in China means also the welcoming of a good marriage or event. (part 2...)
